Which game this Foxy is from
Foxy is the pirate fox in Five Nights at Freddy's, the 2014 game by Scott Cawthon. Players also call that game FNAF 1.
The Steam page does not list his name. It names Freddy Fazbear as the main attraction, and his two friends, and it calls them animatronic robots. Scott Cawthon is the developer, and the listed release date is August 18, 2014.
This note is about that Foxy only. Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie the Rabbit, and Chica the Chicken are the other three who move through this building. Foxy is not on the Show Stage with them.

What he does from 12 AM to 6 AM
You stay in one office from 12 AM to 6 AM and watch the cameras. Foxy starts behind the curtain at Pirate Cove. Open that camera often enough to see whether he is still there. The night call says he becomes more active if that camera stays off.
When the curtain is open and he has come forward, the hook is visible and he is no longer hidden. If he has left the curtain, be ready for his hall. Leaving Pirate Cove alone is how he reaches the office.
The cameras, the hall lights, and a closed door share one power bar.

What he looks like
On the Pirate Cove camera he is behind a curtain. The sign reads SORRY! OUT OF ORDER. When he steps out, a hook shows. The Foxy the Pirate wiki cites The Ultimate Guide, page 269, for an eye patch over the right eye, a hook for the right hand, his own stage, a damaged suit, and movement in phases. That page number is the wiki's citation. These cameras show the curtain, the sign, and the hook.
The history players usually tell
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 came out the same year, on November 10. It has Withered Foxy, a more damaged older fox, and Mangle, a newer animatronic. The Night 2 phone call says the older models come from the previous location and are kept for parts. The same call says Foxy was twitchy, and that a bright light can disorient the older models. Players usually treat Withered Foxy as this same fox before a repair, and the Foxy in Five Nights at Freddy's as that fox afterward. Mangle is not this Foxy. Sister Location has Funtime Foxy, also a different fox.
The Foxy the Pirate wiki says he is possessed by a murdered child named Fritz. The video This is the story of Foxy the pirate tells the same longer story. Neither is a line in the 2014 game.
Where players meet this name
This fox is in Five Nights at Freddy's. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 has Withered Foxy. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 uses his head and his hook. Five Nights at Freddy's 4 has a plush. Ultimate Custom Night includes him. Funtime Foxy in Sister Location is a different fox. Help Wanted, Special Delivery, Security Breach, Help Wanted 2, and Secret of the Mimic also use the name. That later list is the wiki's.
How players describe him
The usual description is the pirate who stays in his own cove, out of order, and runs the hall if that camera stays off. At night in the 2014 game he does not talk. The wiki adds pirate slang, and a line in Ultimate Custom Night about not underestimating a pirate or a fox. Those lines are not in the 2014 game.
